If you have received a fixed penalty notice from a Police Officer in relation to alleged antisocial behaviour or road traffic offences, you have 28 days to make payment in full or request a court hearing. Please read the fixed penalty notice you have received for information on how to pay or request a hearing.
Payment of the penalty involves no admission of guilt and will not result in a record of criminal conviction being made against you.
If you request a court hearing, Police Scotland will report the matter to the Procurator Fiscal to consider what action to take. That may involve summoning you to appear at court, and if you plead guilty or are found guilty in court, a criminal conviction will be recorded against you.
No correspondence regarding the notice will be entered into. You should either pay or request a court hearing within the 28 day period.
If you fail to make payment in full or request a court hearing, the fine will be increased by 50% and registered for enforcement as if the fine had been imposed by a court.
If your fixed penalty includes penalty points, your driving record will be endorsed with the points specified when you pay your fine or when the fine is registered for enforcement.
