Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Livingston Sheriff Court, Jedburgh Sheriff Court and Selkirk Sheriff court will be closed on Monday 8th November 2021 except for Custody business.

Following a planned review, SCTS has decided to maintain all existing safety measures for the next three months – until the end of January 2022. This will allow us to continue with the criminal court recovery programme and enable the return of a small number of in-person civil and tribunal hearings.

Following a constructive meeting between representatives of the Edinburgh Bar Association (EBA) and the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service we have agreed that it is unfortunate that the recent events have impacted on the courts and the excellent relationship between the parties.

Solicitors who are attending court to take instructions, provide advice and represent their clients are essential to this and full access has been, and will continue, to be provided to court buildings and their clients held in custody.

We have been informed that some members of the public have received phone calls purporting to be from Edinburgh Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court about outstanding payments. These calls DO NOT come from Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
