Case tracking is now live for first digital service in the Court of Session

Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) announced the official launch of the Court of Session Case Tracker as part of Civil Online.

Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) is proud to announce the official launch of the Court of Session Case Tracker as part of Civil Online. This represents the first digital service available in the Court of Session and enables 90% of case types to be tracked online.

This innovative tool is designed to enhance the management and tracking of civil cases, significantly improving the efficiency of legal proceedings in Scotland.

Riley Power, Executive Director of the Judicial Office for Scotland, said:

“Following the successful launch of the Case Tracker for Ordinary Actions in the Sheriff Courts, I am delighted that this service will now be available in the Court of Session. The Case Tracker improves the efficiency of legal proceedings in Scotland by making it easier for legal professionals to access information about their cases and reducing reliance on emails and phone calls to the court.”

Legal professionals can now monitor the status and progress of their Court of Session cases, offering real time updates on case activity, ensuring solicitors and legal professionals have the most up to date information about a case at their fingertips.

Key Features of the Court of Session Case Tracker include:

  • Functionality to track the majority (approximately 90%) of Court of Session case types.
  • Cases registered on or after 31 July 2024 will be trackable.
  • Easy access to case information including documents, interlocutors and timetables
  • Up to date information on past and future hearings.

Document submission for Court of Session cases will not be available at this time. However, it will show what number of processes has been allocated to documents and allow copies of any document to be downloaded.

The SCTS invites all legal professionals to familiarise themselves with the new system and explore its benefits. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who took part in our user research and who attended sessions earlier this year.

How to register as a Civil Online user?

If you are a legal professional, the Solicitor User Guide has details of how to register. You will require your company ID.

This guide has now been updated at pages 46-48 to include guidance on Court of Session Case Tracking
