Solicitor member sought by advisory council

The Lord President is seeking to appoint a solicitor member to the Advisory Council on Messengers-at-Arms and Sheriff Officers. The Council normally meets once annually and members hold office for three years. Members are eligible for reappointment provided that they retain the qualifications for membership.

The Council was established under Section 76(1) of the Debtors (Scotland) Act 1987. Its statutory functions are to advise the Court of Session on the making of Acts of Sederunt under section 75 of the 1987 Act and generally to keep under review all matters relating to officers of court.

Copies of the Council’s annual reports are available to view. 

Any solicitor with relevant experience who is interested in being considered for appointment is invited to send a CV to Edward McHugh, Deputy Legal Secretary to the Lord President at emchugh@scotcourts.gov.uk; or to Lord President's Private Office, Parliament House, 11 Parliament Square, Edinburgh , EH1 1RQ. The Lord President will thereafter make a decision based on consideration of the CVs.
