SCTS wins national Learning Award

Feb 26, 2024

SCTS won the prestigious People Development Programme of the Year (Public Sector/Not-for-Profit) award at The Learning Awards ceremony in London on 22 February.

Representatives from the organisation’s Education and Learning Unit (ELU) team collected the award for the design and delivery of the SCTS Direct Entrant EO Programme (DEEOP) developed in partnership with Justice of the Peace and Sheriff Court Operations colleagues. The programme, which launched in August 2022, supports Justice of the Peace and Sheriff Court Operations by training both new recruits and existing colleagues to become summary criminal clerks. Its second cohort graduated in October last year.

Interim Director – Education & Learning Robin Holmes said:

“The ELU team is committed to developing high quality training which supports colleagues at SCTS in their work. We could not, of course, have attained this award without the input of colleagues from across SCTS to help us deliver this programme successfully.”

SCTS Chief Executive, Eric McQueen, who accompanied the team at the awards ceremony, said:

“It was my absolute privilege to be able to join our ELU team at The Learning Awards ceremony in London. Over 850 people attended the awards ceremony, with applications from around the world, so the size and scale of the Awards is truly impressive. Getting shortlisted was fantastic in itself, but being awarded People Development Programme of the Year was truly incredible.

“While we were honoured to be at the awards ceremony, this is an award for ELU and colleagues across the organisation whose commitment and passion made the Direct Entrant Programme such a brilliant success.”
