Consignation Register

The Accountant of Court has a statutory obligation under the Court of Session Consignation (Scotland) Act 1895 to be the custodian of sums under the following situations:

 

  • Sums held by order of a Court of Session Interlocutor.
  • Unclaimed dividends (dissenting shareholders) or unapplied balances in liquidation and administration proceedings.
  • Unapplied balances and unclaimed dividends relative to Judicial Factory proceedings.
  • Miscellaneous sums held at the discretion of the Accountant of Court.


The Accountant of Court will hold the funds until such times as the rightful party makes a successful claim and uplifts their funds for a period of 7 years at which point the funds are remitted to the Queen’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (QLTR) who is the Crown’s representative in Scotland who deals with ownerless property.

The register is updated on a regular basis and records go back to 01 January 2010.
