The list below shows the fees that are charged for applications and stages of procedure in the High Court of Justiciary. If you require further information, you should contact the High Court.

Petitions to the Nobile Officium and applications for criminal letters

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

(Inclusive fee covering all steps in procedure)


Certified copy of any other document.

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

Copying - of each document up to 10 pages.

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

Copying - each document in electronic form.

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

Copying - each further page or part thereof.

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

£0.50
(each extra page in excess of 10 pages)

Searches - for any search of records or archives -

Fee payable from 1st April 2024:

Per 30 minutes or part thereof - £14
In addition, correspondence fee where applicable - £14

Cheques - Made payable to "The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service"

  • Debit Card & Credit Card - Please check which types of card are acceptable with the appropriate court
  • Postal Order - Made payable to "The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service"
  • Cash - If paying by post it is not advisable to make cash payments
