Be vigilant to help prevent a COVID second wave

Aug 11, 2020

The first localised lockdown in Aberdeen last week underlines that COVID-19 still exists within our communities and just how quickly events can change.

There is a real risk that what we do now, as we start to see light in the Coronavirus darkness, will set back months of effort; this only stresses the need to be as vigilant as ever in reducing the risk combating the infection spread. factsSMIt is vital that we don’t let complacency undermine our previous success: that everyone in court and tribunal buildings follows SCTS guidance and Scottish Government’s FACTS guidance.

The magnificent efforts made across the service have meant that our re-opening of courts and tribunals has gone remarkably smoothly and a lot of business has restarted. The crucial message is that we all have to be continually aware of the fact that the virus has not gone away; that the measures we introduced as we reopened our buildings in June are every bit as essential now as they were then; and that the core basic advice about things you can do to prevent the spread of infection – the FACTS – remain the same.

Now five months in to the managed restrictions it is in many ways harder to stay focused and not become complacent, but we must keep our guard – protect yourself and others.
