The All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court (ASSPIC) successfully held its first Virtual Procedural and Motion Court on Monday 13 July 2020.
Sheriff Principal Stephen, who ‘attended’ the virtual hearing, with Sheriff McGowan presiding, said:
“The successful launch of a Scotland-wide virtual court is the culmination of some weeks of preparation and planning.
“This has been an excellent collaborative project with judiciary, SCTS court and digital staff participating.
“The proceedings went well and all participants appeared very comfortable with appearing remotely.”
With guidance already issued, the first ASSPIC proof hearings are expected to be held from 3 August, restarting the process of hearing evidential cases paused by Coronavirus (COVID-19).
