Where it is appropriate or desirable to do so, the Court provides an opinion setting out the reasons for its decision. Some decisions are given verbally by the Court at the conclusion of the hearing. Written opinions will usually be provided when a case involves a matter of principle and/or a particular point of general public importance. When issuing a written opinion, the Court should consider whether the opinion merits publication. The Court may rule that in the interests of justice, a particular case should not be published.
