Office of the Keeper of the Rolls

The Keeper's Office can be described as the "Rolls Department" since it is responsible for the publication of the Rolls of Court on a daily and weekly basis.

The Keeper and his staff have to take account of daily changes and allocated work to Court and Judges accordingly.

The Keeper

Responsible for:-

  • Weekly assignment of Judges to civil work taking into account the criminal;

programmes already agreed with the Deputy Principal

  • Setting up additional civil and criminal Courts, employing temporary/retired Judges

as and when required;

  • Assignment of Clerks to Judges

Assistant Keeper

Responsible for:-

  • Day to day running of office;
  • Weekly and daily allocation of civil business from diary and Rolls to the Courts;
  • Preparation of the daily and weekly Rolls;
  • Front-line contact for solicitors and counsel;

Assistant Clerk

Responsible for:-

  • General Enquiries
  • Allocation of motions (requests to the Court) and preparation of the motion roll;
  • Fixing proofs, hearing, etc., in consultation with Court diaries;
  • Front-line contact for solicitors and counsel;
