Clerks of Court (Depute Clerks of Session)

The First and Second Division each have a Depute Clerk of Session assigned to them, as does each Outer House Judge. The Depute Clerk acts as Clerk of Court and undertakes civil or criminal duties as allocated to the Judge. In the criminal court the Clerk is designed as a Depute Clerk of Justiciary.

By the very nature of their job, Clerks of Court spend a considerable time every day in Court while it is sitting and accordingly cannot be readily contacted by phone. Therefore to make contact with a Clerk please email supreme.courts@scotcourts.gov.uk indicating the name of the clerk wish to speak to. This message will be forwarded to the Clerk who will be in touch as quickly as is possible.

To contact the Commercial Clerks email commercial@scotcourts.gov.uk.
