What is the Scottish Court Service?

We are an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government Justice Department. Our main function is to support the judges and sheriffs in the Supreme and Sheriff Courts in Scotland. Our staff are properly trained to carry out the administrative, technical and organisational services needed for our courts to run smoothly, while giving an efficient and courteous service to court users. We also provide and maintain court buildings.

Our service will be fair, whatever your race, ethnic origin, age, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or any disability. We are committed to treating victims with compassion and respect for their dignity, and to improving our services to victims, including bereaved next of kin. All court users will be treated in the same professional manner.
