A number of local activities took place in Lothian & Borders Courts and these are a few examples:
Familiarisation visits and work shadowing were arranged in most courts. This allowed both District Court and SCS staff to gain an insight into the work of both courts as well as an opportunity to meet future colleagues.
In some courts, Sheriff Clerks recruited staff to make up the shortfall in staff transferring from the District Courts. New staff were recruited in Jedburgh, Selkirk and Edinburgh.
At Linlithgow/Livingston a secondment project plan was agreed and the first 4 week secondment began on 12 March 2007 with a member of staff from West Lothian District Court in Livingston being seconded to Linlithgow Sheriff Court and a member of staff from Linlithgow Sheriff Court being seconded to West Lothian District Court. The District Court member of staff received training in civil business as well as a brief induction on the aims and objectives of the SCS, senior and local management structures, the training system and the appraisal system (Individual Performance Review).
Staff from some courts took advantage of the invitations from the Central Ticket Office and Safety Camera Partnership to visit their offices. This provided an insight into the work carried out by these divisions of Lothian and Borders Police..
Livingston District Court staff worked with SCS staff on the parallel running of the IT systems DCAS6 and COPII+ from 30 January 2008. This provided valuable information for the rollout of COPII+ to Lothian & Borders courts.
