Training
A calendar of training dates in February and March has been created for Sheriff Court staff to receive training on the new Fiscal Fines, which SCS will begin collecting in March 2008. Sheriff Clerks are now allocating staff to the most appropriate days to ensure all courts are prepared for Fiscal Fines by March.
Further dates will be added to the calendar in April and May to allow Sheriff Court staff to be trained in the other financial penalties which will transfer to SCS with Unification in June.
Dates for transferring District Court staff and newly recruited staff are also being added and District Court managers will be consulted on how best to allow staff to attend these dates. This training will include an introduction to the SCS criminal IT system, COP II.
Work will continue on the training strategy and details of training courses and events for Sheriff and District Court staff will be made available in due course.
Communications
The communications strategy has been developed for Grampian, Highland and Islands and will be continuously updated by Lora Crabtree to reflect feedback and developments. Communications will also be co-ordinated on a national level to inform all court users of the upcoming changes to Fines Enforcement in March 2008 and Court Unification in April 2008.
Steering Group
Following on from the Business Continuity Workshop held in Elgin in August 2007 an action plan has been drafted to coordinate the actions which involve our Justice Partners. Meetings have now been scheduled in order to agree and monitor the cross-agency actions needed to ensure a smooth transition. A representative from each Local Authority, each police force and each area Procurator Fiscal will join with SCS in meetings to be held at the end of November 07 and beginning December 07 to form this group.
