Following the announcement by the Justice Minister on the 8th December 2005 that Lothians & Borders would be the first sheriffdom to unify the SCS court unification and fines project team have been working locally and nationally to plan for implementation.
A project manager has been appointed for Lothians & Borders, Elaine McIntyre, with one of her first tasks being to produce a sheriffdom implementation plan.
An essential part of developing this plan will be to set up user groups for the sheriffdom involving key stakeholders.
A district court member of staff, Brenda Flaherty, is due to join the SCS project team shortly and will be involved in visits scheduled for March 2006 to all the district courts in Lothian & Borders.
Work is also ongoing in Grampian, Highland & Islands which is the next sheriffdom to unify after Lothian & Borders. A project manager, Brian McBride, and team have been appointed and discussions are underway with key stakeholders.
Further information can be obtained from any of the Court Unification team.
