Welcome to the Scottish Government's Web Site which gives you information about what is being done to implement the current proposals for reform of the procedures and practices of the High Court of Justiciary.

These reforms flow from the report 'Improving Practice' which was reported to Parliament in December 2002. In that report, the Honourable Lord Bonomy suggested far reaching changes designed to modernise High Court procedures, reduce inconvenience to court users and provide a better environment for witnesses, victims and other interested parties involved in court proceedings. The legislative vehicle for the introduction of these reforms, many of which also affect the Sheriff Court, is the Criminal Procedure (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill, which has now been before the Scottish Parliament for consideration and is currently awaiting royal assent.

This site contains links to the government departments that are involved in the reform programme, and news on how it is being implemented.
