SCTS publishes its first British Sign Language Plan

Oct 24, 2018

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) is pleased to publish its first British Sign Language (BSL) Plan

The Plan sets out our commitments on the use of BSL (including tactile BSL) in  connection with the exercise of our functions over the period from 2018-24. We are committed to improving our services and making them easily accessible to all service users, including Deaf or Deafblind users of BSL. Thus we fully support the Scottish Government vision to make Scotland the best place in the world for BSL users (including tactile BSL users) to live, work and visit.

BSLA draft of the Plan was issued for public consultation in August 2018. We are grateful for the feedback received and all the comments provided were given appropriate consideration.

The SCTS is committed to taking forward all the actions presented in this Plan and to report on progress with their implementation. We will provide a contribution to the National BSL Plan Progress Report in 2020.

The Plan can be accessed here: BSL plan
