SCTS commitment to reducing its carbon footprint

Mar 22, 2017

As Earth Hour marks its 10th anniversary, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service are working towards the Carbon Trust Triple Standard, showing commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. Carbon Trust

SCTS achieved the Carbon Trust Standard for Carbon back in 2008 and were the first Scottish Public Body to achieve the Water Standard in 2014. In 2017, SCTS are working towards attaining the Waste Standard. Achieving all three of these will officially certify SCTS as an environmentally sustainable organisation.

Glasgow Sheriff and JP Court will be showing its support for Earth Hour by switching off its exterior flood lighting for one hour at 8.30pm on Saturday the 25th of March.

Earth Hour 2017Earth Hour is supported by the Scottish Government and coordinated by the environmental charity WWF to raise awareness of sustainability and climate change. Organisations, communities and individuals around the world are asked to switch their lights off for an hour in a symbolic gesture. Last year, thousands of people across Scotland joined hundreds of millions of others in 162 countries across the world. We encourage all staff to get involved personally by switching off their own lights for an hour on Saturday 25 March at 8.30pm.
