The first ever fringe exhibition held in Scotland’s historic Parliament Hall proved a huge success attracting nearly 3000 visitors.

'Parliament House, The Hidden Gem' celebrated a five year, £58 million redevelopment which was completed last year on time and under budget. The building, constructed as Scotland’s original parliament, now houses the Court of Session and the High Court of Justiciary.

Visitors from around the globe signed the guest book, describing the Hall as:

  • truly a hidden gem
  • an architectural masterpiece
  • a special place.

SCS Chief Executive Eric McQueen said: “This exhibition is a piece of history that records our vision to modernise our service without losing our core traditions and values.

“The historic courtrooms have been fully preserved while at the same time adapted to enable the presentation of evidence, productions and documents, electronically and remotely, from any part of the world. This is part of our ambition to put digital innovation at the heart of our Service.”

The exhibition, which attracted 2982 visitors, was sponsored by Currie and Brown, Asset Management and Construction Consultancy (project managers) and Interserve Construction (principle contractors).
