OPG awarded employer of the year
Dec 17, 2012
It was one of four organisations nominated for the category in the annual Falkirk Council awards ceremony held in November.
The OPG won the honour for its part in the Council’s modern apprentice programme which provides training to youths in the work place.
“We are extremely proud to receive this and we recognise it as a real achievement,” says Case Manager Peter Quigley. “The programme has benefited both the OPG by providing extra help in the office and also the young people from the local area who have learned valuable skills to help them get started in the job market.”
The Council described the award as seeking to "acknowledge excellence and commitment from employers recognising their support and contribution in delivering employment and training opportunities for young people in Falkirk”.
The OPG took on three, 17-year-old apprentices who were trained in both the multifunctional team and the admin/scanning team.
“As part of our youth employment strategy, the SCS is committed to getting more young people in to the organisation and providing them with real opportunities, says Interim Chief Executive Eric McQueen. "The OPG has shown excellent initiative in helping young people in their local area.”
