This is to allow North Ayrshire Council’s plans to regenerate Irvine Town Centre to proceed. The Court currently sits in rented premises within the Irvine Town House Building and is required to move within this timescale as part of the Council’s regeneration programme.
Eric McQueen, Interim CEO SCS explains:
“Along with North Ayrshire Council we have investigated other potential buildings and alternative locations in Irvine. We have been unable to locate suitable premises that would provide the safe environment, physical access and facilities that are required for the court and its users
“The recent plans by North Ayrshire mean we have had to put in place business continuity arrangements for Irvine Justice of the Peace Court business. This may prove to be the better long term arrangement for the future but I remain committed to the public consultation arrangements and we will consider carefully any proposals or suggestions which come forward for the future of Irvine JP Court.”
Notes:
From Monday 24 December 2012, all business of the Irvine Justice of the Peace Court will be accommodated within the Kilmarnock Sheriff Court building, St Marnock Street, Kilmarnock, KA3 1ED.
