The national Carbon Trust has welcomed the success of the Scottish Court Service (SCS) as a low carbon leader in Scotland.
The SCS was one of the first 14 bodies in the country to receive accreditation from the Carbon Trust Standard in 2008 in recognition of its good energy and carbon management. In August, this year, as a result of on-going commitment to carbon reduction, the organisation achieved recertification.
Staff contributions, including the work of sustainability champions, along with new service controls helped to gain this high standard.
We are delighted to recertify the Scottish Court Service’s ongoing commitment to carbon reduction,’ says Carbon Trust Standard General Manager, Harry Morrison. ‘The Scottish Court Service’s ability to seek out new areas to improve energy efficiency proves that, with the right level of skills, tenacity, and support, it’s possible to improve carbon efficiency year-on-year – which has a hugely positive effect on the organisation.’
‘We are very pleased,’ adds SCS Sustainable Development Manager Alan Stevenson. ‘The certification scheme is an excellent tool for planning future investment to reduce emissions even further. The revenue saved can now be reinvested in increased energy reduction or redirected to other parts of the organisation.’
